Amir Yashar Ajami is a manuscript collector and a scholar with expertise in Middle-eastern manuscripts and calligraphy as well as an international art dealer, concentrated on Art of the Islamic World and India. In the year 2010, he founded Ajami’s, an Antiquarian Books & Manuscripts company in California, USA and ever since dealing with numerous international collectors, museums and organizations. He is also the founder and director of MEAA (Middle-Eastern Antiquarian Agency) which provides conservation, restoration, appraisal and several other services to international collectors, dealers and organizations across the globe.
In 2022, he started collaboration with Hessink’s Fine Art Auctioneers in UK and the Netherlands, as the Director of Islamic Art and head of the Department.
His background in Philosophy and extensive research in Philosophy of Language, Historical Linguistics, Association of Concepts and Language, Distinctions of Language and Literature and the Development of Calligraphy from Writing, has made his passion for calligraphy broader than any specific script or calligraphy to the extent of working on a new project to create a new field of study as “Philosophy of Calligraphy”.
